Dearest opens this autumn. Put your address in and I’ll write to you when it does — the fast way, just this once.

Dearest is a messaging app being built on one rule: your letter arrives when a letter would have arrived. You pick the century, you write the thing, and then you wait — and so do they.

No way to rush it. That’s the entire point.

Distances are great-circle, measured point to point. Transit times use period averages: clipper packet 130 miles a day, Pony Express relay 250, mail steamer 580, airmail 2,000, and the cable telegraph a flat four hours for relay and transcription. Romantically applied, not navigationally exact.
